Joe Rull
Minneapolis Star Tribune
Digital Designer
Hi! My name’s Joe Rull, and I’m a digital designer for the Star Tribune and have been based out of Minneapolis for the past year. Before coming to the Star Tribune, I worked on all things digital for Searchlight New Mexico – a nonprofit investigative publication in Santa Fe, N.M. – where I managed everything online, ranging from web design, data visualization, social media, and video/multimedia production.
I got my start in journalism at the University of New Mexico, where I worked mostly in video and in covering our school’s basketball team until COVID happened, when I quickly switched over to covering local protests and maintaining a COVID-19 data tracking effort. I’ve been happy to work in visual storytelling ever since, and I’m really looking forward to learning everything I can at this workshop.
